We’ve had a good little run lately with a double at Hereford & Huntingdon with Ilewin Geez & Fixed Rate. Fixed Rate was especially pleasing as he is a five year old flat bred horse having his first run over fences, and he jumped like a cat! We also got Morney Wing back on track and he won by twenty five lengths. Unfortunately the handicapper has put him up 12 pounds.

We have had new patio made by ‘Pete The Log’ and it surrounds my hot tub. We are having great fun in the hot tub so far this season and it’s nice to have a dance floor now to go with it too. Kate bit her lip as she eyed my dripping brush. Somehow I knew it wouldn’t be long before I’d be touching up her gazebo.

I’ve been to the sales this week at Newmarket and I’ve bought two really gorgeous horses. We got a horse called ‘Financial Conduct’ who is a monster of a horse, and has won three races on the flat & looks like a three mile chaser. He is for The Steeple Chasers syndicate and he looks a very exciting prospect. The other horse I bought is a 3 year old called ‘Prabeni’. He is closely related to Golden Horn who won the Derby and the Arc. He won his last race at Ripon and is a very athletic sort. He should win his 3 year old hurdle races.

“Harder!” she cried, gripping the hot tub tightly. “All right” I said… “Who won the Grand National in 1983?”

We went all the way to Sedgefield yesterday and ran ‘Like The Sound’ in his first novice chase. He jumped beautifully and got a bit tired as he hadn’t run for 546 days, but he finished a good 2nd and will improve from the race. We are getting busier, and when the ground becomes a bit better we will start running a few and Lily Pom Pom could be one of our first runners! Here she is relaxing after her morning blow.

All the best,
Charlie
